A historian Windows creates for the font used by Fernando II and Alfonso IX

A document file León Cathedral (in particular the document number 1065, a privilege granted Fernando II in 1186 to all the clergy of the capital) has helped the historian Leon Ricardo Chao has created a new typeface Windows in honor of the 1,100 th anniversary of the Kingdom of León.
This is not the first time that this high school teacher taking such an initiative a few years ago and created another which he called 'Visigothic Leon. "

According to Ricardo Chao has said on this occasion told "with a digitizer to me much easier task when the font to give a more regular and smooth, although it must be borne in mind that I'm still an amateur and the result is far from professional. However, as historian and medievalist, my intention has been to make a font as faithful as possible to those documents of the royal chancery of Ferdinand II and Alfonso IX, namely those for the years of the XII century.

Charo says in his blog that achieving this type of letter "I used as a basic model number 1065 of document archives of the Cathedral of Leon, a privilege granted Fernando II to all the clergy of the capital. The small letters reproduced as closely as possible those contained in the document, and capitalization are as shown in the inscriptions of signs boulders, which are broken or central wheel which used to have a command of the king or the kingdom. "

The resulting version is called simply 'Leon Cancilleresca' I've been as faithful as possible to the letter medieval compliance issues such as absence of dot the i's and Jacks, almost no separation between characters, the excessive height of scapes (= stick), as in the case of b, l, h, the disproportionate size of the capital, almost three times that of the case and the existence of a point on the "y", which always appears in the documents. "

In all cases and for readability the author has coined another version of this same typeface, which has been called 'Leon Cancilleresca Modern', 'more legible and consistent with our time.

In this version the i's and Jacks have overlapping points, there is greater separation between characters, the shafts have been cut, the case has been reduced to have a magnitude (size) that only double that in the case and has tried to eliminate point on the "y".

Condemn a student to return a 2,000 Euro scholarship for not going to class

FERRAGUT MAR. PALMA.

The National Court has sentenced a student from Palma to return a grant of more than 2,000 euros for not going to class. Specifically, the ruling requires the student to reimburse the state for 2085 euros it received, plus interest. In total, you must pay 2310 euros.
This student has requested and obtained a grant from the Ministry of Education and Science for artistic photography first study in the School of Design in Palma during the year 2005/2006. Now it is returning the money he received and has failed one of the requirements: attend more than 50 percent of school hours.

Absenteeism

The secretariat of the school leaving certificate issued a record of student absenteeism, as their guardian reported that the student had missed more than half of the classes. Therefore, the general director of Territorial Cooperation, as dictated by the Ministry of Education in 2008, forced him to repay the grant received for 2292 euros, excluding the 207 euros was granted to buy books and school supplies.
The student appealed and argued that the Administration could not prove he had missed so much class and even said "that was presented to the English test in February 2006." In the words of the sentence of the Audiencia Nacional dismissing the appeal, no matter whether or not the student went to that test because it does not mean that students go to class. For all this and having been established that the aspiring photographer missed more than half of the classes, you must return the money received.
The call of the Ministry of Education and Science grants and General study for the academic year 2005/2006 was aimed at students of post-compulsory level non-university and university study in their autonomous community.

Requirements for scholarship

The invitation states that the secretariats of schools should check that students have benefited from a scholarship earmarked for the purpose for which it was granted, that is, when you unsubscribe fellow at the center before end of the course, when there is seen a fifty percent or more of the fixed-school hours unless it is exempt from enrollment, or for non-payment for services rendered by the center for which funding has been granted financial aid.
